Tommy Cox

Louie “Tommy” Cox of Kelso, Missouri formerly of Commerce passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born January 7, 1938 in East Prairie, Missouri to Roy and Jessie Organ Cox. He married Joyce Geraldine Parker on February 10, 1967.

He was a construction worker and was a member of Commerce Baptist Church in Commerce, Missouri. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sons, Tommy Cox, Jr. of Mound City, Missouri, Jim (Cindy) Cox of Oregon, Missouri and Ricky Clay of Commerce; three daughters, Tonya Meuir of Piggott, Arkansas, Sandra (Tyler) Oleksy of O’Fallon, Missouri and Sondra ( Brian) Archer of Gilbert, Arizona; a brother, Adon Cox of Charleston, Missouri; two sisters, Nancy Kindle of Morehouse, Missouri and Libby Stracener of Charleston, Missouri; 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday at the chapel with Rev. Dan Stevens officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family.
