Jeffrey Steger

Jeffrey Layton Steger, 71 of New Hamburg died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born November 7, 1942 in San Diego, CA to Leo A. "Bud" and Vera Louise Rodgers Steger. He married Connie Sue Enderle on Feb. 8, 1964. He was a truck driver for Brenda Kay Sand and a member of Knights of Columbus council 4311 in Oran. He is survived by his wife, Connie; a son, Brent (Fiancé Shelly Andrews) Steger of Pocahontas; a daughter, Marsha (Larry Gene) Strobel of Oran; two brothers, Shelby "Skip" (Charlene) Steger of New Hamburg and Shannon (Edie) Steger of Chaffee; a sister, Sharon ( Wilford) Raines of Clinton; four grandchildren, Trey (Taylor) Strobel, LaGena Strobel, Brice Steger and Reena Steger. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 1:00 PM on Thursday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Benton, MO. Knights of Columbus service will be at 10:30 Am. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at the chapel with Rev. Michael Casteel officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Lawrence Food Pantry, PO Box 247, Benton, MO 63736.
