David "Coop" Dirnberger, age 71, of New Hamburg, MO passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born on July 23, 1942 in New Hamburg, MO to the late Claude William and Hattie Rebecca Brock Dirnberger. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Harris, whom he married on November 28, 1963, while serving in the United States Air Force. David spent 35 years in the banking business. Coop also had a catering business and later became owner and operator of Coops in Scott City from 1997-2002. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, St. Joseph Sodality, Scott City Knights of Columbus, American Red Cross board of directors, former Notre Dame HS board member, President of the NBC Fire Dist. and served on the board for the North Scott County Ambulance. Coop was also a founding member of the New Hamburg Jaycees. He was an ASA certified umpire and coach of youth athletics. Survivors include three sons, Daryl Dirnberger of New Hamburg, MO., Doug (Gina) Dirnberger of Scott City,MO., Dirk (Ashley) Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau, MO; one daughter, Darla (Chris) Clenin of Festus, MO; two brothers, Andrew (Janet) Dirnberger of Benton, MO., Glen (Barb) Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau, MO; three sisters, Lois Spalding, Janet Vetter, Vera (Alan) Hennemann all of Benton, MO.; six grandchildren, Stefan and Shane Clenin, Sydnie, Connor, Daija and Avery Dirnberger. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard "Dick" Dirnberger. Friends may call after 3p.m. on Sunday June 29, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. Parish Rosary will be at 4p.m. Funeral mass will be on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10a.m. at the church with Rev. Normand Varone as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence in New Hamburg with full military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made to the Kenny Rodgers Children Foundation in Sikeston.
