William Clifton Hancock, 82 of Scott City died April 23, 2014 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born July 17, 1931 in Houston, Mo to Ensul Clifton and Mary Helen Potts Hancock. He married Mary Joan Yager on August 26, 1956 in Aztec, New Mexico. William was a welder and blue print instructor for Surplus Properties in St. Louis. He was of the protestant faith. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; a son, Alan (Diane) Hancock of Blue Springs, MO; two brothers, Larry Hancock of Pueblo, CO and David Hancock of Grand Junction, CO; three sisters, Thelma Sheridan of Pueblo West, Co, Virginia Wands of Canyon City, CO and Lana Chapman of Pueblo,CO and a grandson, Kenneth Hancock. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and a sister. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of service on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Funeral Service will be at 2:30 PM at the Chapel with Rev. Bruce Clubb officiating. There will be military honors following the funeral service. Burial will be private.
