Cornelius "Corky" Heisserer, 97, of Chaffee passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 17, 1917, to the late Frank and Sophia Goetz Heisserer. He married Imogene LeGrand on April 24, 1944. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 2000. Corky was a self-employed farmer. He belonged to the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and was a member of St. Ambrose Mens club. He was a sergeant in the Army during World War II and he served in the 29th fighting squadron. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Morley, Mo., with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Guard.
