Shirley J. Callow

Shirley J. Callow, age 77, passed away on November 28, 2013 at the family home in Advance, MO. She was born in Canalou, MO on April 30, 1936 to the late William Franklin and Effie Emmaline Burkhart Hoots. She married Dale Callow on April 7, 1952 in Piggott, AR and he preceded her in death on November 29, 2004. Shirley was a member of Hooe Baptist Church near Oran, MO. She worked as a beautician in her early years then became a homemaker and mother after adopting their daughter at birth. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Russell) Mitchem of Advance, MO; three grandchildren, Baili Glastetter, Sydney and William Mitchem all of Advance; one step granddaughter, Taylor Mitchem of Advance; two sisters, Louise Loveless of Morley, MO and Betty Hovis of Dexter, MO. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Friends may call after 4pm on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, MO. Funeral service will be held at 10am Monday, December 2, 2013 at the chapel with Rev. Ed Stoner officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Advance, MO. In lieu of flowers Shirley asked donations to be made to St. Judes.
