Melvin E. Lewis

Melvin E. Lewis, age 87, of Chaffee, MO formerly of Barnhart, MO passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born on October 29, 1925 in Puxico, MO to the late David and Frona Brewer Lewis. He married Virginia M. Duncan on April 10, 1948 and she preceded him in death on May 30, 2010. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII. He was a retired welder at Hussmann Refrigeration in Bridgeton, MO. Survivors include three sons, James E. (Sharon) Lewis of Park Hills, MO, Robert D. (Debbie) Lewis of Chaffee, MO, Richard D. (Denise) Lewis of Imperial, MO; one daughter, Barbara A. Lewis of Desoto, MO; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and two sisters. Friends may call from 10AM until time of service on Thursday April 18, 2013 at the Chaffee General Baptist Church in Chaffee. The funeral service will be held at 11AM at the church with Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO with full military honors presented by the Missouri Honor Guard.
