James "Jim" Thomas, 67, of Jackson, MO passed away Thursday, Oct. 18,2012 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born October 22, 1944, in Chaffee, MO to the late Earl James and Mary Catherine Kiefer Thomas. He married Betty Place on Sept. 24, 1984 and she survives. He was a member of the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He retired as a mechanic from Proctor and Gamble of Cape Girardeau, MO. He was a life member of Cape Girardeau V.F.W. Post #3838 and Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge #639. Jim was of the catholic faith. Survivors include his wife, Betty of the family home, two brothers, Steve (Trish) Thomas of Chaffee, MO, Robert Thomas of St. Charles, MO; one sister, Diana (Doyle) Tankersley of Jefferson City, MO. Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Sunday October 21, 2012, after 5PM. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 at 10AM at the chapel with Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Burial will follow at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Guard.
