Adella Catherine Frank

Adella Catherine Frank, daughter of the late Joseph Kirchdoerfer and Mary (Heuring) Kirchdoerfer was born on January 17, 1928 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 98 years.

In 1972, Adella established herself as the “Cake Lady from Chaffee” creating beautiful and delicious wedding, birthday, and special occasion cakes and proudly held this title for 48 years. Adella recognized the powerful impact of her eight years of Catholic education, and often reminded her children and grandchildren of its influences in the way she lived. Mrs. Frank was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, member of the

Daughters of St. Ambrose, where she served 2 years as treasurer. Served as President of St. Ambrose Home and School Association and was a member of the Notre Dame Home and School Board Association. She was a charter member of the Notre Dame Booster Club and of the Western Catholic Union. Adella was the past President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Campster Club and served as secretary on Cape County Farm Bureau Board. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of Isabella. She also enjoyed watching and feeding birds, her particular favorites were the red ones.

On January 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Alvin M. Frank in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Alvin preceded her in death on June 21, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Debbie) Frank of Cape Girardeau and Alvin (Kim)

Frank, Jr. of Chaffee; two daughters, Mary Ann Hennecke of Cape Girardeau and

Barbara Beel of Bonnots Mill, Missouri, and daughter-in-law Kay Frank of Collinsville,

Illinois; ten grandchildren, William Hennecke, Jr. (Sally Bagg), Danielle (Gary) Poyner,

Jason (Natalie) Frank, Jaymie (Chris) Castens, Tim Frank, Shelley (Zach) Fischer,

Melanie (Greg) Peters, Olivia (Keith) Hancock, Emma (Shawn) Tuthill, and Robyn (Shaun) Potts; sister-in-law Mildred Kirchdoerfer, extended family, Bobby, Angela, and Aaron Sims; also by twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joe David Frank; son-in-law Roy Beel; her twin sister, Stella Ostendorf, and sister, Marie James; two brothers, Anton and Joe Kirchdoerfer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:00 in Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Eucharistic Celebration will be conducted on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM in St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Kelly, Rev. Randy Tochtrop, and Rev. Patrick Nwokoye officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Family has requested in lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to the following: Retired Priests of Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese, Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, School Sisters of Notre Dame, or Saint Ambrose School in Chaffee. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
