Allan Wayne “Bud” Schmidt
Bud passed away at the age of 85, on October 27th, 2026, at his home in Gordonville, Missouri, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born in Altenburg, Missouri on April 12, 1941 to Arnold & Esther Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, of the home, son Shannon Schmidt (Mae) of Salt Lake City, adopted son, Kevin Stacy, brother Stan Schmidt (Sharon) of Cape Girardeau, and step-son Chuck (Sarah) Stokes of Lindenhurst, Illinois. He left behind his faithful and beloved canine and best friend, Kinsey. Also surviving are Grandchildren Hannah, Brady, Emma and Mikey of Salt Lake City. Step Grandchildren who referred to him as “Bud-Bud” are Emily, Alison and Audrey Stokes of Lindenhurst, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Judy Francis and Gerri Weber.
Bud served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and received a Rifle M-14 Sharpshooter badge, using his skills to train new recruits to shoot. He received a Navy and Marines Expeditionary Medal. He was a proud Marine! Bud’s career consisted of being a Repair Technician for Sears for many years. He later started his own appliance repair business known as “Bud’s Appliance Repair”, from which he retired.
He was an avid gardener, fisherman, hockey fan, St. Louis Cardinals fan and an excellent fish fryer. He also also enjoyed a good card game (if he was winning). He was a hard worker and loved to feed and watch the birds. He was liked and respected by friends and family members, in part due to his quiet and thoughtful demeanor.
Bud, a life-long Lutheran, was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He took great comfort from his faith and the knowledge of God’s promises.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
