Andrew "Andy" Halter Jr

Andrew (Andy) Lawrence Halter, Jr., 78 of Sikeston, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at the home of his son, on July 15, 2026. He was born January 27, 1948 to Andrew & Theresa Halter in Chaffee, MO.

On January 8, 1966 he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Lowes at the old St. Vincent Church in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Andy was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. When he returned home he worked for McDonell Douglas, but was drawn back to the military life. He served a total of 22 years before retiring as a 1SG. After retiring he started Halter Transport and managed that for the next 20 years with his wife.

Andy enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with his family.

Loving survivors include his son Kevin (Nikki) Halter of Jackson, MO, daughter Sherri Shrum of Cape Girardeau, MO, 6 grandchildren Kristen Shrum, Matthew Halter, Isabell Halter, Natalie Shrum, Faith Halter and Emily Shrum, 1 sister, Judy Tankersley and numerous nieces.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, parents, father & mother-in-law Leonard & Helen Lowes and 1 brother Michael Halter.

A celebration of life will be July 19 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, MO from 5-7pm. A private burial ceremony for the family will be at Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Crown Hospice for the care given to Andy.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Mercy Health Foundation in care of the Cancer Center of Cape Girardeau, MO
