Angie Holtzhouser

Angela “Angie” Holtzhouser, 73 of Scott City passed away surrounded by family Saturday morning, August 9th 2025 at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born August 15th, 1951, to Tessie and Richard Thompson in Martin, Tennessee. She married Larry Joe Holthouser in New Madrid on December 21st, 1986.

Angie was a witty, strong-willed woman with a kind heart that loved everyone. She was a fierce fighter and competitor through her years starting at a young age. She dominated basketball courts, the stages of beauty pageants, helped organize many political campaigns and as a marksman, targets feared her. Holding several degrees, Angie was also creative and clever. An experienced teacher and baker, she used her talents to be a writer of stories and author a cookbook that gained the attention of several large retailers. Her love of people and places was evident with all the trips that her and her husband enjoyed, leaving her very well-traveled. She was a woman of faith being a long-time member of the West End Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau. Out of all her many achievements and passions, the one she was most proud of was becoming a Mimi.

She is survived by her husband Larry Joe Holtzhouser of Scott City, son Rick (Johnna) Potter of Scott City and stepdaughter Robin Holtzhouser of Slidell, LA. Four grandchildren: Ellie, Nolan, Jonathon, and Alexis and two great grandchildren: Jonny and Amelia. She was welcomed into paradise by the loving arms of both her parents. Service will be held Friday August, 15th at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Family visitation at 4:00 pm.  Public visitation at 5:00 - 6 pm. Memorial service at 6:00 pm.
