Bill Halter

William (Bill) Halter, son of the late Zeno (Sam) and Henrietta (Schlosser) Halter was born on January 28th, 1935 in Benton, Missouri and departed his life on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 surrounded by family at the age of 91 years.

On November 22, 1958 he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Schaefer. She survives the home.

Along with his wife, survivors include 3 sons, Doug (Lynette) Halter of Jackson MO, Ron (Terri) Halter of Jackson MO, and Ray (Candie) Halter of Benton, MO; one daughter, Pam (David) Beussink of New Hamburg MO; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lou Bennett and Shirley Bucher; also, by a host of family and friends.

Throughout his life, he worked hard and wore many hats, spending his years farming, playing music, driving a school bus, and raising bird dogs and various livestock. He loved picking his guitar, playing euchre, and telling stories. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome.

In his later years you could often find Bill in his favorite chair in the shop, or sitting on the swing beside his favorite person, his beloved wife, Rose. Together, Bill and Rose built a life and a family that meant more to him than anything else.

Bill touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing him. His quick wit, playful orneriness, and soft heart will live on in the memories of those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 4:00p until 7:00p at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. Funeral service will then be conducted at 10:00 am, Saturday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.

Memorial donations can be made in memory of Bill Halter. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
