Billy McMillan

Billy Ray McMillan, son of the late Oliver Scott “Bud” McMillan and Helen “Ruth” Adkins was born on October 13, 1938 in Johnson County, Arkansas and departed his life on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Chaffee Nursing Center Rehabilitation in Chaffee, Missouri at the age of 87 years.

He was a former employee at West Lake Quarry. Later in his career Mr. McMillan ran a very successful home improvement business. Billy was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and a former resident of Scott City.

On November 7, 1958 he was united in marriage to Jane Aleene Ellinger in Ancell, Missouri. Mrs. McMillan preceded him in death on October 10, 2025.

Survivors include three sons Dennis (Debora) McMillan and Ronnie (Debbie) McMillan both of Scott City, Jim (Sharon) McMillan of Herrin, Illinois; three daughters, Ruth McMillan and Kim Harris both of Scott City, Rhonda (Bill) Bolton of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Danny (Darlene) McMillan and Nathan (Kassie) Harris both of Scott City, Zachary (Kanyi) Harris of Jackson, Ian Bolton and Cayleigh (Zachary) Owens both of Cape Girardeau; Dayne (Ashley) Cherry of Jackson, and Dylan (Danyelle) Cherry of Scott City; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor McMillan, Maylene and Margot Cherry, Nicholas, Simon, and Charlie Harris, Oliver and Amelia Owens; one brother, Charlie McMillan of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Christina Wondel of Wentzville, Missouri, Pat Terry of Liberty, Missouri, Gerry Lasater of Ashland, Missouri, and Mary Yount of Fredericktown; also, by a host of family and friends.

Along with his with and parents, he was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Edward and Aleene Ellinger; son-in-law, Eddie Harris; four brothers, Scott, Denver, Marion “MD”, and Mike McMillan; one sister, Ann Boze; grandson, Nicholas E. Harris, and great-grandson, Jaxon E. Harris.

Celebration of life for Billy Ray McMillan will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026 from 11:00 until 1:00 at Monarch 55 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapels assisting with arrangements.
