Robert “Bob” Burnett
Bob Burnett, son of the late Joseph Harvey Burnett and Margaret Quade Burnett was born on August 1, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 82 years.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1962-1966 during the Vietnam War. Bob worked 42 years for Ford Motor Company until his retirement. He was an advent bicyclist logging hundreds of miles a day and up to 15-20 thousand miles per year, he enjoyed hiking, and fishing. Being outdoors is what Bob loved. He was recognized by former Missouri Governor Jay Nixon for his hiking and biking accomplishments in Missouri State Parks. Bob enjoyed reading and was a scholar of the Bible.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary Lizenbee of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Sue Sallee of Chaffee, and Judy Horton of Glenn Carbon, Illinois; by a host of nephews and nieces; along with several friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Betty Mirly.
Celebration of Bobs life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from noon until 2:00 PM at First Christian Church in Chaffee.
