Danny Bill McBride

Danny Bill McBride, son of the late Freda and Emmett McBride Jr., was called to the arms of our Lord on Saturday, September 12, surrounded by his family at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Danny was born in Chaffee, Missouri and later moved to Cape Girardeau, where he attended Marquette Grade School and graduated from University High in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was owner of McBride Tire Service in Scott City, Missouri for 20 years.

In 1975 he married Wanda Smith of Redford, Missouri. She survives at the home in Benton.

Danny had a great love of trains and many family vacations were planned around visiting museums on Railroad History and train layouts.

He and his wife, Wanda, were members of the Unity Baptist Church in Benton where he would lend his voice to a solo in praise to God.

Survived by two wonderful sons, Danny Jr. (Melody) of Coos Bay, Oregon and Jeff (Lisa) of Benton, Missouri, he felt blessed as his family grew with three grandchildren, the twins, Brooke and Matthew, and their sister Lacey. His blessings continued as great-grandchildren were born. Jasper, Charlie, Wyatt and Kehlani always brought joy as he watched then play. He is survived by two siblings, Brenda (Toby) Moyers of Scott City and Emmett “Butch” Lynn (Mary) McBride of Cape Girardeau; by brothers-in-law, Stanley (Mary) Smith, Tom (Katy) Smith and sisters-in-law Yvonne (Jeff) Arnzen, and Jayne Smith; also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In September 2014, Danny suffered a stroke that left his left arm and leg paralyzed. Being a man of great faith, he remained positive about life and always had a smile on his face. As he passed his son was heard saying, “Now Dad can walk again.”

A celebration of life will be held at the Unity Baptist church in Benton, Missouri on Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 AM. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapels assisting with arrangements.
