Doris Christy

Doris Lee Christy, age 85, originally of Commerce and Scott City passed away on January 24th 2019 at Lucy Corr Village, Chesterfield Virginia.

She was born on May 31, 1933 in Commerce Mo. to the late Leo and Rose Mae Wright Abernathy. On November 15, 1958 she married Dale B. Christy and he preceded her in death on September 10, 1985.

Doris graduated from Benton High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1950.

While living in St. Louis for most of her adult life Doris worked several years at Krey Packing Company. She retired to Scott City and owned several rental properties and a few businesses.

She is survived by her son, David (Jeanette) Christy of Midlothian Virginia and two grandchildren, Damon Christy of Ballwin Missouri and Deborah Christy of Midlothian Virginia.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charles “Chuck” Abernathy, Robert “Bob” Abernathy, William “Bill” Abernathy, Larry “Joe” Abernathy and a sister, Virginia “Jenny” Hodges.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday at the chapel with Rev. Michael Casteel officiating.

Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce.
