Dorothy, affectionately known to family and friends as Dotty, was a quiet person with a big laugh. She loved flowers, especially those that were brightly colored, and grew many of them over the years. She had a big heart, devoting much of her time to the family she loved so very much. She was an avid reader, reading everything she could get her hands on, especially mysteries, action, adventure, suspense, drama and historical fiction. She loved crossword puzzles and word searches, and was known to spend many hours putting together puzzles. The long winter days were spent playing board games with family, her favorite of which was Monopoly. She enjoyed music, and listened to a variety of it over the years, preferring music by Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Frankie Valli.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Dunn of Pope, MS; two sons, Michael Black of Sikeston, MO, and David Black (Teresa) of Shiloh, IL; two sisters, Linda Beshara (Charlie) of Medina, OH and Debbie Massaro of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Wayne "Sonny" Patterson (Linda) of Oran, MO; 10 grandchildren, Heather Cooper (Jason) of Gregory, AR; David "Bo" Dunn (Lorianne) of Tillatoba, MS; Rachel Sexton (Terry) of Moscow Mills, MO; Steven Black of Sikeston, MO; Sarah Black of Cape Girardeau, MO; Jacob Black of Benton, MO; Jessica Koenig (T.K.) of Oran, MO; Diedra Blackmill (Terry) of O'Fallon, IL; Bethany Szolga (Jared) of Sedalia, MO; and Whitney Haeberle (Scott) of O'Fallon, IL; 26 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Wilfred Glasser.
