Ella "Louise" Hanley went to be with her Lord on August 7, 2025, after a brief stay at University Hospital in Columbia Missouri. She was born in Benton, Missouri on August 1, 1925, to Carlton and Hattie (Miller) Hodges, both deceased. She had 4 brothers and 1 sister: Omer Hodges (deceased), Jack Hodges (deceased), Hattie Hodges (Bonifeld) (deceased), Clinton Hodges, Roy Hodges.
She graduated from Oran High School and went on to work for Frisco Railroad as a Depot Agent. She met her husband Vernon Leon Hanley (deceased) as a Depot Agent in Brosley Missouri. They were married in 1946. They had 5 children: LaDonna Smith, Garron Hanley (deceased), Doug Hanley, Rodney Hanley, Randy Hanley. She had 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She loved her family and was happiest when she got to spend time with them.
Louise worked for JC Penny's and Britz Clothing Store in Sikeston Missouri. She was a member of Oran Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Moberly Missouri. She loved her faith and belief in God. She practiced her faith by reading her bible daily and praying for family and friends. She volunteered for the First Baptist church visiting church members when they needed a friend. She loved sending cards and receiving them. She had beautiful handwriting and would journal daily then would give the journal to a family member when complete.
In 1952 she moved from Missouri to California with 4 children and lived there for 14 years. Louise enjoyed gardening, canning and her apricot tree in the yard. She moved back to Oran, Missouri in 1966. She moved to Moberly in 1986. She moved to Ravenwood Terrace Senior Living in February 2020.
She turned 100 years old on August 1, 2025, and enjoyed 2 birthday parties. Ravenwood Terrace Senior Living celebrated with her on August 1st with her friends at Ravenwood. She had a birthday on Saturday with her family. She had a great time and enjoyed everyone with lots of smiles and laughing. She enjoyed life!
Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation to be held Monday, August 11, 2025, 11am – 1 pm, at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, to be followed by funeral services honoring and celebrating Ella’s life at 1pm. Committal prayer and burial will be Tuesday, August 12, 2025, 11 am, at Forest Hills Memorial Garden, Sikeston, Mo.
