Eugene L. Seyer

Eugene Seyer, son of the late Otto Seyer and Corena (Schott) Seyer was born on April 3, 1931 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed his life on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Chaffee Nursing Center Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing at the age of 94 years.

He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. Eugene was a member of the St. Lawrence Parish, St. Joseph Sodality in New Hamburg and a resident of New Hamburg, Missouri. Mr. Seyer was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

On October 16, 1965 he was united in marriage to Norma Robert. Mrs. Seyer survives of the home in New Hamburg.

Along with his wife, survivors include three sons, David (Laura) Westrich of New Hamburg, Clyde (late Demetra) Westrich of Benton, and Paul (Gwen) Seyer of Jackson; two daughters, Karen (late Randy) Young of Cape Girardeau and Jean Seyer of New Hamburg; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; six sisters, Linda (Rod) Lipe of Cape Girardeau, Dorothy Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Nancy (Mike) Amelunke of Columbia, Missouri, Jane (late Don) Bilodeau of Hillsboro, Missouri, Janet (late Sam) Jarrell of Cape Girardeau, and Virginia (late Tom) Ross of Benton, Missouri; also, by other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Darryl Westrich; three brothers, Cornelius “Cornel” Seyer, Charles Seyer, and Jerome “Bud” Seyer; two sisters, Mary Ann Terry and LaWanda Turnbough.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with holy prayers at 7:00 PM. Eucharistic Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg with Father Daniel Belken officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
