Gordon Hensley

Gordon Ray “Flash” Hensley, son of the late James T. Hensley and Hazel (Riley) Hensley was born on February 25, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana and departed his life on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 74 years.

He spent most of his life in Illinois and later moved to Benton, Missouri. Gordon was employed by several places in Illinois but the last 20 years he was employed by St. Francis Hopital in Cape Girardeau. Flash enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart and gather with his Coffee Crew at Huddle House. He found humor in life and was always ready for a good joke.

Survivors include two sisters, Marsha Stowell of Kansas City, Missouri and Brenda England of Las Vegas, Nevada; two nephews, D.J. Rhoads and Michael “Scott” Whitten; one niece, Lori (Jerry) Shipps; two great nieces, Brinley and Kaylee Shipps; two great nephews, Michael A. Whitten and Alex “Bo” Shipps; also, by several cousins and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, several aunts, uncles that he dearly loved. Flash was loved by many and will be missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 11:00 until 2:00 PM at Unity Baptist Church in Benton. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Unity Baptist Cemetery.
