Jacqueline “Jackie” Tula Fowler, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 95 at Chaffee Nursing Center.
Jackie was born in Akron, Ohio August 6, 1929 to Virgil C. Shell and Hazel H. Cooper Shell. She met her husband, Herman Fowler, at Chaffee High School after he returned from WWII and they married on December 1, 1948. Jackie graduated from Chaffee High School and Cape Beauty School in 1947. Jackie lived in San Francisco, California, and St. Louis, Missouri before returning to her lifelong home of Chaffee, Missouri with her family. Jackie worked as a Beautician for 65 years, retiring in 2013 at the age of 86. She owned and operated Shell Beauty Shop in Chaffee for 45 years.
Jackie’s life was deeply rooted in her Christian faith, as reflected in her long-standing membership with the First Christian Church since 1945 where she served in various capacities including Sunday School Teacher, Elder, Board Member, and Treasurer for 21 years. In addition to her church involvement, Jackie was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary 3127 and the Chaffee Historical Society.
Jackie is survived by her son James (Janie) Fowler (Chaffee); daughter Kelly (Bryan) Simpson (Chaffee); granddaughters Molly (Tyler) Cookson (Texas), Kori (Neal) Grossheider (Florida), and Cooper (Jeremy) Perry (Randalls); great-granddaughters Eleanor Grossheider and Sutton Perry; step-grandson Talon Simpson (Chaffee), sister Peggy Morey (Illinois); sister-in-law Dee Shell (Chaffee); nieces and nephews Melanie Morey Cannon (Wisconsin), Sheila Anderson (Florissant), Stacy Anderson (Washington D.C.), Debbie Shell (Chaffee), Mark Shell, Ron Shell, and Steven Shell as well as numerous first cousins. Jackie is preceded in death by her husband Herman Fowler; brother Mitchell Shell; sister Maxine Anderson; sister-in-laws Jackie Calvert and Melba Jaskolski; brother-in-law Sid Anderson; nephew Todd Morey.
Jackie will be remembered in our hearts and memories for her kindness, her green thumb and prolific Iris and Rose gardens, as well as her unwavering faith and dedication to her family and community.
Visitation will be held from 10AM-12PM, Saturday May 10, 2025, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Missouri. A funeral Service will follow at the same location at 12:00 PM with interment immediately after at Union Park Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to First Christian Church of Chaffee.
