James Chester Mack
James Mack, son of the late Chester Sylvester Mack and Pauline (Hefflin) Mack was born on October 13, 1937 in Benton, Missouri and departed his life on Friday, January 9, 2026 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 88 years.
He was a former employee of Mack’s Printing and Southeast Missourian for several years. James was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Laborers Union Local #1104.
He was united in marriage to Martha Jane Rhodes who survives; other survivors include three daughters, Angela (Glen) Fisk of Chaffee, Vicki Garner of Cape Girardeau, and Barbara Mack of Cape Coral, Florida; one brother, David Mack of Benton; six sisters, Glenda Ruth Gosnell of Lake City, Florida, Mary Lou Hinton of Sikeston, Polly Ann Polacek of Waterloo, Illinois, Connie Fay Spence of St. Louis, Bonnie May Sitzes of Cape Girardeau, and Brenda Kay Poole of Oak Ridge, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Garet Garner, Lacey Garner, Jeremy Penrose, Colton Seabaugh, and Klanci Seabaugh; two great-grandchildren, Kami Eubank and Peyton Penrose; also, by a host of family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James (Jamie) Mack; one brother, John Mack; two sisters, Wanda Lee Rochelle and Dorothy Smith; three grandchildren, Richard Kight, Casey Graviett, and Justin Gadberry.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Benton. Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce, Missouri with full military honors.
