Janet Kenkel Carroll went to be with the Lord on September 8, 2025. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Janet was born on November 5, 1940, in Dexter, Missouri to Michael Litzler and Louise Clara Backfisch Litzler Glastetter. She married Paul Anton Kenkel in 1958 and had six children. As a stay-at-home mom, she had to budget to feed and clothe us. We always had food to eat because of her creativity. Not only would she feed us, but any friend that stopped by was welcome. She earned and received the name “Mother”, and she was a mother to many. She would check the front room on weekends to see if anyone spent the night and ask if they wanted breakfast. If you ever had her chili, you wouldn’t forgot it, but if you had her bread pudding, you had the best ever!!!
In 1984 she met Tom Carroll. They spent 30 years together doing what they loved, camping and bird watching. They had a book to identify the type of bird they attracted.
Tom passed away in 2014 leaving Janet lonely, but not defeated. She focused her time on her house plants, playing bingo, her dogs and mostly loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She knew all their names and birthdates and always called and sent gifts.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Tom, daughter Laura Greenwood, son Anthony “Tony” Kenkel, son- in-law John Gohn, brothers Ray and Dennis Glastetter. Survivors include sons Paul Kenkel, Joey (Pam) Kenkel, daughters Tina (Darrin) Smith and Debbie Gohn. And daughter-n-law Bonnie Kenkel. Brothers Ronnie (Rosie) Litzler, Jim “Brutus” Glastetter and sister Elizabeth “Betty” Rabbitt and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her remains will be laid to rest October 18, 2025, in Dexter, Missouri.
