Jeffery Simpson

Sep 14, 1961 — Oct 25, 2026

Scott City

Jeffery Wayne Simpson was born September 14, 1961 to Albert Earl Jr. and Emma Jean (McBride) Simpson. He was freed from this world and reunited with Jesus and his mother on October 25, 2026. He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife Barbie Brashear Simpson. They united in marriage on September 13, 1986.

Survivors include his wife Barbie, daughter Lyndsey (Donnie) Wiley, and son Dylan (Kendra) Simpson both of Scott City. In addition to his children he had 3 granddaughters whom he was very proud of, Evalynn, Emma, Myla Jean and one grandson Peyton Medlin. Survivors also include one sister Dianna (Brian) Gibbs of Cape Girardeau, a brother Keith (Teresa) Simpson of Scott City, and a cousin that was like a brother to him Ken (Cathy) Simpson of Farmington, sister in law Becky (Bud) McMillan of Cape Girardeau, brother in law Rick (Cindy) Brashear of Scott City, brother in law Scott Brashear of Scott City.

Nieces and nephews include Brooke (John) Schnurbush, Mikah (Matt) Simpson Woodcock, Heather (Donnie) Redmond, Katie (Trey) Danieley, Brandi (Nate) Brashear Comer, Sara (Alpha) Rivera, Eric (Natalie) Brashear, Taylor (Chris) Brotherton, Garrett McMillan, Miranda (Slade) Craig, Cody Brashear, Tyler Brashear, Katie (Jake) Guinn, Madison Olivia Brashear. And if you can believe it, several other great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jean Simpson, his brother in law Brian Gibbs, his father and mother in law Dick and Barbara Brashear, and his brother in law Michael Brashear, a favorite uncle, Harold Simpson, and Uncle Bob.

Jeff never let the weight of this world bring him down. He always had the best attitude and was always positive. He was a big fan of the wild west, really should have been born a cowboy. He enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife and hunting (although waking up early was a struggle). He was also a music man. Not only a fan of good music, he also enjoyed playing the guitar before his injury.

Jeff was a member at Illmo Baptist Church and graduated from Scott City High School. After high school he went to work for his dads construction business AE Simpson construction where he worked for several years before venturing out to start his own trucking business, JW Simpson Trucking. Through the mist of all of the family business, the Simpson family also built and ran Missouri International Race Park. The track was originally built and operated by the Simpson family from its opening in May 1991 through the 1996 season.

Jeff was also the dad who said no to getting a little dog, only to end up becoming its best friend. And, of course, he was the grandpa who loved sneaking snacks to the grandkids before dinner, because sometimes the best memories are made in the little moments. Those were just a few of the things that made Jeff so special and so loved.

He loved his family so very much and his wife Barbie was the living example of what a devoted wife is. She was always by his side, taking the best care of him. He had a very loving and supportive family and friends that helped him accomplish anything he needed or wanted.
