Jerry R Stroup

Jerry R Stroup of Chaffee passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO at the age of 78. He was born on September 20, 1946, the son of Howard and Jeanie (Alvey) Stroup. Jerry was married to Carol (Siebert) on August 21, 1971.

Jerry is survived by his wife, daughter Julie (Adam) Esterline of West Lafayette, Indiana; son Matthew of Chaffee; two grandchildren, Lily and Ryan Esterline; and a sister, Beverly Griggs of Sikeston, Missouri.

His parents, Howard and Jeanie, and brother Randy preceded him in death.

Jerry was a 1964 graduate of Chaffee High School. He retired from the BNSF Railroad and was President of the United Transportation Union, Local #947 at Chaffee for several years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Chaffee Historical Society, and Scott County Historical Society. Jerry was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Jerry enjoyed watching his children play sports and coaching Babe Ruth Baseball for many years with his son’s teams.
