Karen Sue Burger
Karen Sue Burger, 80, of Scott City, Missouri departed her life on November 2, 2026 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri surrounded by her family. She was born on January 20, 1946 in Sikeston, Missouri to Carl and Virgie (Jones) Throop.
On July 6, 1963 she was united in marriage to Ronald “Ron” Louis Burger in Kelso, Missouri at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Ron preceded her in death on January 27, 2022.
Karen was a devoted farmer’s wife, working alongside her husband, Ron, as his partner in both life and on the farm, where they tended to crops and raised pigs together. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and spent many years volunteering at the Safe House for Women, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Karen and Ron shared a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time at the lake, camping and trout fishing together. At home, she took pride in tending to her blackberry rows. Above all, Karen cherished her family, especially the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought so much joy to her life.
She is survived by one son, Adam Burger, of St. Louis; one daughter, Tamara (Chris) Crider, of Scott City; one bonus daughter, Olga Devochkina; six grandchildren, Libby (Ben) Clark, Caitlyn (Mike Burrows) Cotner, Zach (Chelsi) Cotner, Becky (Adam Cassidy) Burger, Madison Burger, and Andrew “A.J.” Hayden; eight great-grandchildren, Josh, Ryliegh, Zoey, Ada, Zaylen, Charli, Zella, and Laurynn; and her beloved dog, Koalie.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Burger, and her brother, Gary Wayne Throop.
