Karen Schlosser

Karen Schlosser, daughter of the late Philip Buchheit and Dorothy (Monkiewicz) McCormick was born in the image of God on August 18, 1958 in Perryville, Missouri and soared to her heavenly home on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the age of 67 years.

With the help of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she won a 24-year battle with breast cancer as she traded her worn out earthly body for a glorious new one, with no suffering or pain in sight. Her spirit lives on through her loving husband, children and grandchildren.

Karen met Rick, the love of her life , when she was a Chaffee Red Devil at the age of 16, 51 years ago. She graduated in 1976 after being crowned Homecoming Queen, a title earned because of her warmth, charm, and ability to light up a room. On February 19, 1977, Rick and Karen were united in marriage at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, Missouri. Together, during their 48 ½ years of marriage, they raised three beautiful children, teaching them love and compassion. Karen was an Aunt, extending through generations, as a Great-Great-Great aunt to nearly 500 nieces and nephews.

Karen’s professional mission in life was servicing thousands of customers in Personal Banking as she diligently served throughout the Cape and Scott County regions for 48 years, treating all of them as if they were family. More importantly, Karen’s personal life mission was to share the truth of Jesus Christ and salvation with everyone she met. She was a beloved member of La Croix Church, Benton Campus, where she led small groups, ministered to anyone in need and sang praises to the Lord inside and outside of those walls.

She didn’t let any of her health battles get in the way of fundraising for others, vacationing with family, or spending time with her “grands”… reading God’s Promises to McCoy and making mud pies in the back yard, playing Barbie dolls and painting with Linney, dancing in the rainbows and having sleepovers with Indigo, pushing Quincy on the swing higher and HIGHER, or cradling baby Milo in her arms and showering him with smooches and snuggles. Gaga excelled at making glass pizza for the family, orchestrating gospel music school rides, having green chair meetings and throwing dance parties while singing karaoke to “Your So Vain”.

Along with her husband, survivors include one daughter, Rachael (Donald) Lawson of Scott City; two sons, Derrick (Logan) Schlosser of Whitewater and Cory (Megan) Schlosser of Scott City; five grandchildren, McCoy Lane Schlosser, Linney Kent Schlosser, Indigo Elaine Schlosser, Quincy Elizabeth Schlosser, and newborn, Milo Barry Schlosser; one brother, Paul (Sherry) Buchheit of Bell City; five sisters, Phyllis Duschell of Jackson, Cheryl Buchheit of Perryville, Laura Zimmerman of Tallassee, Tennessee, Anita (Mike) Hartle of Jackson, and Sandra (Steve) Ressel of Cape Girardeau; as well as their fur companions, Bonnie and Clyde.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Tracy Buchheit; and one sister, Ellen Vaught.
