Kathleen "Katie" Evelyn Chasteen

Katie (McCarty) Chasteen, daughter of the late George McCarty and Martha (Burns) Stone was born on November 7, 1936 in Delhi, Illinois and departed her life on July 24, 2026, at Mercy Southeast Emergency Room in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 89 years.

She was an energic woman and very active in the Chaffee community. Katie, as known by most people, was a member of the Chaffee’s VFW and American Legion. She donated her off-time at Chaffee’s Nutrition Center where she helped serve food for our senior community. Katie also enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the Casino, and playing cards with her friends.

On November 3, 1956, she married Earl Chasteen in Chaffee, Missouri. Mr. Chasteen preceded her in death on May 4, 2020.

Survivors include two sons, Roy (Sid) Chasteen of Farmington, Missouri and Terry (Jim) Chasteen of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; two daughters, Shari (Mike) Felter of Benton, Missouri and Patricia (Don) Kennedy of Advance, Missouri; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Frank Aaron Stone, brother, Willian (Bill) Anderson; and granddaughter, Brittnay Lynn Kennedy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from noon until 2:00 PM at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM in the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with Rev. Danny Freeland officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Park Cemetery.
