Margaret Kielhofner

Margaret Kielhofner Margaret “Margie” Kielhofner, age 87, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Capetown Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. 

She was born on August 4, 1937 to the late Henry “Bean” Scharenborg and Josie (Brummer) Scharenborg at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and grew up in Leopold, Missouri. 

She married Charles Robert “Bob” Kielhofner on October 5, 1958 who preceded her in death on June 17, 2021. 

Margie worked for Thorngate Ltd. and was a member of St Augustine Catholic Church. She enjoyed painting, bowling, gardening, playing bridge, and was a faithful member of St. Anne’s Sodality. 

She is survived by a daughter, Amy (Kenny) Blattel of Kelso; two sons, Brad (Gerri) Kielhofner of Springfield, Missouri and Peter (Jeanne) Kielhofner of St. Charles, Missouri; a brother, Joe Scharenborg of Sikeston, Missouri; a sister, Marcie Sullivan of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Tracy (Nick) Dannenmueller, Sarah (Michael) Vandeven, Thomas Kielhofner, Diane (Sandy) McGraw, Jane Kielhofner, Stephen Kielhofner, Will Kielhofner and CJ Kielhofner and great grandchildren, Devin Dannenmueller, Abram Vandeven and Calvin Vandeven.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Anna Helen Kielhofner; one infant brother; and two sisters, Virginia “Birdie” Scharenborg and Sr. Timothy “Mary” Scharenborg. 

Visitation will be held at St. Augustine in Kelso, Missouri on Monday, June 23rd at 8:30-9:30am. Holy Rosary will be prayed from 9:30-10:00am, with Holy Mass starting at 10:00am. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Augustine Parish for their capital campaign.
