Mary Carter Phipps Lewis

Mary Carter Phipps Lewis, daughter of the late Luther Carter and Carrie Kinsall Carter was born on December 27, 1932 in Hornersville, Missouri and departed her life on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 92 years.

She was a homemaker, of the Methodist faith, and a resident of Scott City, Missouri.

On June 18, 1954 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Phipps. Mr. Phipps preceded her in death on May 11, 2000. She was then united in marriage to Rodney Lewis in February of 2009. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2009.

Survivors include two sons, Don (Sheila) Phipps of Collinsville, Illinois, and Brian (Sheena) Phipps of Scott City; one daughter, Joyce Mazzarella of Tamaroa, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Along with her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons; one daughter; four brothers; two sisters; and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Interment will follow in the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
