Mary Ann Phillips

Mary Ann Phillips, daughter of the late Jake B. Smith and Pansy Lane Smith was born on September 7, 1927 in Charleston, Missouri and departed her life on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at her daughter’s home in Chaffee at the age of 98 years.

She retired as a supervisor at International Hat Company in Oran, Missouri and later in her career was a licensed Realtor. Mary was a member of Morley Baptist Church, Daughters of American Revolution, and very active in Scott County Historical Society.

On July 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to Vernon E. Phillips in Morley, Missouri where they spent the majority of their life’s. Mr. Phillips preceded her in death on December 27, 2007.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy (Jim) Blevins of Chaffee; one son, Delbert Earl Phillips of Scott City; four grandchildren, Sarah (Lloyd) Powell, Phillip Caleb Blevins, Hollie (Jeff) Riley, and Heather (Robert) Scott; ten great-grandchildren, Caleb Blevins, Elijah Blevins, Skylar Blevins, Ava Blevins, Lincoln Schaffer, Sierra Scott, Evan Scott, Courtney Riley, Chase Riley, and Jackson Riley; one sister, Lillian Milam; also by a host of family and friends.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James David Phillips; two brothers, Henry Smith and John Earl Smith; three sisters, Wanda Penrose, Ruth Jean Wells, and Shirley Jo Smith; also, by one grandson, Tom Blevins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from noon until 2:00 PM at Morley Baptist Church in Morley, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery outside of Morley.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Morley Baptist Church.
