Mary Lou Welter, daughter of the late Homer Grimes and Lue (Vanover) Grimes was born on December 21, 1946 in Sikeston, Missouri and departed her life on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at her home in Sikeston at the age of 79 years.
She was a member of the Saint Denis Catholic Church in Benton, Missouri and former Secretary at the United States Post Office in Blodgett, Missouri.
In 1966 she was united in marriage to Mike Welter in Lebanon, Missouri. Mr. Welter survives of the home in Sikeston.
Along with her husband, survivors include two sons, Jeff Welter and John (Courtney Obermann) Welter; two daughters, Laura (Kevin) Meunier and Angie (James) Grogan; loving grandmother to fourteen grandchildren, Nicholas and Madison Meunier, Grason (Alli)Welter, Hudson Welter, Ahnna Lawrence, Kyle (Taylor)Welter, Ryan (Elizabeth) Welter, Emily (Luke) Irby-Casey, Haley Welter, Lexi Welter, Jaxon Welter, Ava Welter, Haileigh Obermann and Kolbi Obermann; five great-grandchildren, Chloe Welter, Charlee Welter, Max Welter, Hazel Welter, and Nellie Irby-Casey; two sisters, Judy Mackey and Debbie Martin; also, by her caretaker Latotia Stanback which was loved by her and family.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Bobby, Herman, and Jimmy Grimes; three sisters, Virginia Nelson, Wanda Hargrove, and Barbara Stinnett.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Saint Denis Parish Center in Benton. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00PM. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Saint Denis Catholic Church in Benton with the Rev. Daniel Belken officiating and Monsignor Normand Varone as concelebrant. Interment will follow in the Saint Denis Cemetery.
