Melvin Ivan Pope

Melvin Ivan Pope, son to the late Paul and Ruby Stephens Pope was born on December 21, 1934 in Marquand, Missouri and departed this life on November 24, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 85.

Mr. Pope worked for A&P Grocery in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the owner/operator of Whitewater Grocery Store in Whitewater, Missouri.

On February 26, 1956 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Moore in Randles, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Pope, he is survived by two sons, Andrew (Andrea) Pope of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Brian (Crystal) Pope of Rockledge, Florida; a daughter, Kathy Sparks of St. Charles, Missouri; a grandson, Jonathan Sparks; two step-grandchildren, Kassie Crandall and Andrew Crandall.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:30 pm on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral Service will be on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Chapel with Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Hitt Cemetery near Arbor, Missouri.
