Melvin Paul Schott Sr.
Melvin Paul Schott, Sr., 87, of New Hamburg, Missouri passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 surrounded by family at the Chaffee Nursing Home. He was born March 18, 1938 to the late John and Catherine (Burger) Schott in Oran, Missouri. Mr. Schott and Patricia A. Glastetter were married June 21, 1958. They raised six children and celebrated 66 years together before her passing in September 2024.
He was proud to be a lifelong farmer as well as serving in the National Guard, working at Central Packing Company, and with independent butcher through the years.
Melvin was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the St. Joseph sodality. He also served on the Kelso C-7 School Board and was proud to host the charity event Kow Pasture Klassic for many years. He loved farming and gardening and was known for his tomatoes and sweet corn. In grade school and high school in Oran, Missouri, he participated in every sport and continued to play softball for several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include five daughters, Julie (Bill) Senciboy of Oran, Missouri, Lisa (Chris) Seib of Sunset Hills, Missouri, Valerie Jones of Marshall, Virgina, Rose Shafer of Cape Girardeau; and Brenda (Glenn) Gray of Jackson, Missouri; by one son, Melvin (Deborah) Schott Jr. of New Hamburg, Missouri; one sister, Betty (Glenn) Debrock of Blomeyer, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony (AJ) Schott and John Schott; one grandson, Blake Jones; one great-grandson, Caden French; and one grand-daughter-in-law, Megan Pridemore.
Visitation will be held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee on Thursday, July 31 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with Rosary Prayer Service at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will resume on from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on Friday August 1 at the Funeral Home. A Eulogy will begin at 9:45 AM Friday, August 1 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, Missouri with a Eucharistic Celebration to follow at 10:00 AM conducted by Rev. Daniel Belken. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery.
