Vickie Raye (Kelly) Ross of Scott City, Missouri died on August 26, 2026 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. She was 76 years old and left this earth peacefully with her two sisters and two nieces by her side.

She was born on December 2, 1949 to John J. and Verna Mae (Sandford) Kelly in Ancel, Missouri (now Scott City). She was delivered at home by her great-grandmother, Ollie Stone. She was the third daughter of seven children.

Vickie lived a very colorful life. She enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, playing Bingo and going to the casino. She loved Sci-Fi and action movies. She had been a resident at the Convalescent Center for almost two years, where she kept her friends and the staff in stitches all the time. Vickie was known for making jokes, dancing or thinking of creative ways to “escape”. She was loved by all there and truly enjoyed their company as well. They enjoyed board games and meals together daily. Vickie especially loved having her nails done by a staff member while residing there but her favorite days were when she would go to her sister Judy’s house for a home cooked meal and a sleepover.

She is survived by four children, Donnie and Brian McCarty, Karen Nordin and Brandon Maderra; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Kay Samples (Chester) of Portage De Sioux, Missouri and Judy Mayberry of Scott City; 18 nieces and nephews, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and a beloved partner of 20 years, Earl “Eddie” Knight.

Sheh will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Vickie’s final wishes will be honored through cremation, interment at Lightner Cemetery and a private graveside service.
